As we continue to work on Tetropolis, we will be documenting our adventures along the way. There will be blog posts written by the individual team members detailing all aspects of the development process as well as giving you some insight into our own lives as indie developers. We wanted to start documenting this process early on, so for those whom are interested, they can see what it is like starting a game studio from the ground up.

The hope is we can share our own experiences, mistakes, successes, and lessons learned with the community so that others can avoid making the same mistakes in the future. We aren’t just yet planning on doing fully open development, but we are planning on showing the game at events, providing the demo online and encouraging feedback from players. We’ve got a lot of cool stuff we’re doing that we don’t want to give away just yet. 😉

The developer blogs will be living on the Tetropolis site. If you want to see all the shenanigans we get up to while making the game, be sure to check out the blogs there and don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and Facebook since we will be posting updates regularly.

UnveilingTetropolis

Today we’d like to announce the title of our very first commercial game: Tetropolis! It is a puzzle platformer with elements inspired by Metroidvanias and falling block puzzle games. It emphasizes exploration, platforming, and puzzle solving, all tied together with a story of self discovery in a harsh world. The game is currently in early stages of development with an alpha build of our demo already playable (in closed testing). We are targeting initially a PC release, but other platforms may be announced as development progresses.

NextGen Pants is Born!

What exactly is “NextGen Pants?” We are a studio of independent game developers who have been working together designing and prototyping games since the beginning of 2013 . On our nights and weekends, we have worked tirelessly on several ideas attempting to find a fun game that is within our ability to execute on. Now that we’ve finally found that game, we needed something to call ourselves. We bounced around a couple ideas but none of them really stuck; one that was offered early on was “NextGen Pants” in reference to this article from The Trenches. It was a pretty ridiculous name, but eventually the name grew on us and thus we became NextGen Pants.

So what can you expect from this site? We’ll be keeping you up to date with any new regarding the studio and its projects. Things like release dates, major milestones, public events, etc will be covered here. This is all very much a work in progress so definitely expect the aesthetic to change in the next few months. (We’re still getting a logo made!)

What about that game we’re making? We’re launching a website for that game long side this one, so keep your eyes peeled for a blog post about it! In fact, if you’re reading this now, it’s probably already up. Why haven’t you read it yet???
